Christie’s is delighted to host the launch of an important new book by David Constable, F.S.A., a highly-respected authority on silver spoons, as well as a renowned collector and author.
Silver Spoons of Britain 1200 – 1710 traces the story of English, Irish and Scottish silver spoons and their makers from their humble beginnings with the acorn knop in 1200 through to the dog nose spoon of 1710. The story is told by focusing on particular spoons that reveal the features of the different styles made in England, Scotland and Ireland. The book includes over 2,200 images and is designed for everyone from the complete novice to those with a passion for the subject.
The books will be available for sale by cash or cheque and David will on hand to answer questions.
